Recent U.S. food recalls where the official notice mentions undeclared eggs. Undeclared allergens are one of the most common recall reasons — for people with a eggs allergy, an unlabeled product can be a serious risk.

Eggs as a labeled allergen

Egg allergy is usually to the proteins in egg white, though yolk and white are difficult to separate completely, so recalls treat egg as a single allergen. It is a required label declaration, and undeclared egg most often reaches a product through a shared production line or a supplier ingredient change.

Where it hides

Egg is a binder and a glaze, so it hides in pasta, breaded and battered foods, meatballs, marshmallow and nougat, mayonnaise-based dressings, some ice creams, and the shiny top of baked goods. Label terms to watch for include albumin, globulin, lecithin (when egg-derived), lysozyme, meringue, and ovalbumin.

If you already bought a recalled product

Do not eat it and do not open it to check. Match the lot code, best-by date, and package size against the official notice — recalls usually cover specific production runs, not every unit of a product. Return it to the store for a refund or discard it sealed, and wash surfaces and utensils it touched, since trace eggs is enough to matter for someone with the allergy. If you or someone in your household has already eaten it and has symptoms, treat it as you would any allergic reaction and seek medical care; call 911 for trouble breathing, swelling, or faintness.

This is general information, not medical advice. Recall notices are the authoritative record — open the linked FDA notice for the exact products and codes involved.
